New Delhi: An alleged audio message of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar has surfaced on social media, triggering alarm in security circles. The date and authenticity of the audio clip have not been independently verified, but it has appeared days after India’s decisive strikes on JeM-linked terror bases in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor.

In the purported audio, Masood Azhar claims that his Pakistan-based terror outfit has “not one, not two, not a hundred, not even a thousand” suicide attackers ready for strikes at any time, adding: “If I reveal the full number, there will be an uproar in the world’s media tomorrow.”

His tone appears aggressive and provocative as he speaks of “martyrdom” and attempts to motivate followers. Azhar is heard saying that his followers demand no wife, no house, no cars, no motorcycles, no iPhone, no visas to Europe or America, only ‘shahadat’ (martyrdom). He claims that they plead with him to let them go first.

Security analysts say the clip reflects panic and frustration within Jaish-e-Mohammed following recent Indian military action that reportedly destroyed multiple JeM facilities in Pakistan. Reports also suggested that around 10 members of Azhar’s extended family were killed in those operations.

Indian security agencies are closely monitoring the audio and remain on high alert for any potential threat.

Masood Azhar missing from public view since 2019

Masood Azhar has not appeared publicly since 2019. He reportedly survived a powerful explosion at his Bahawalpur headquarters that year and is believed to issue occasional recordings from undisclosed locations to spread fear, boost cadre morale, and mask weakening organisational capability.
