Tehran: Iranian state media confirmed Sunday that three members of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s immediate family were killed during the intensive waves of U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on the capital.

The Fars News Agency, which is closely linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that the leader's daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter were among those killed in the bombardment. The announcement follows a period of intense speculation regarding the survival of the 86-year-old Supreme Leader himself after U.S. and Israeli officials claimed he had been assassinated in the same operation.

"After establishing contact with informed sources in the Supreme Leader's household, the news of the martyrdom of the daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter of the Revolutionary Leader has unfortunately been confirmed," Fars news agency and other Iranian media reported.

Strikes Target the Leadership Compound

The fatalities reportedly occurred when high-precision munitions struck the Supreme Leader’s secure compound and surrounding residential districts in central Tehran. While Iranian officials have spent much of the weekend dismissing reports of Khamenei’s own death as "psychological warfare," the confirmation of these high-profile family casualties by state-run outlets represents a significant and sombre shift in the government's narrative.
