The delegation, led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha, is in Japan as part of a five-nation diplomatic outreach

Tokyo: Japan was among the first countries to condemn the 22 April terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Ambassador to Japan Sibi George highlighted on Thursday while briefing a visiting all-party parliamentary delegation in Tokyo.
The delegation, led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha, is in Japan as part of a five-nation diplomatic outreach under Operation Sindoor, India’s global campaign to highlight its response to cross-border terrorism following the attack.
Addressing the delegation, Ambassador George said, “On the terror attack that happened — cross-border terrorism — Japan was one of the first countries to respond. This delegation is here so we can discuss how to approach our Japanese interlocutors and carry forward India’s message.”
The Indian Embassy in Tokyo reaffirmed this stance in a post on X, stating:
“All-Party Parliamentary Delegation was briefed by Ambassador Sibi George on Japan-specific approach to engagements, setting the context for a strong messaging of India's fight against terrorism.”
In another post, the Embassy said:
“All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by Hon’ble MP Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha arrives in Tokyo, welcomed by Ambassador Sibi George. India’s unwavering stand against cross-border terrorism, as seen in Op. Sindoor, will be highlighted in all engagements.”
The nine-member Indian delegation includes CPI(M) MP John Brittas, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, BJP MPs Dr Hemang Joshi, Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, and Pradan Baruah, as well as former Ambassador Mohan Kumar.
The visit aims to strengthen international awareness of India’s stance against terrorism and to brief key allies on India’s precision military response through Operation Sindoor. The operation was launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam attack, in which 26 civilians were killed. India carried out targeted strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoJK), followed by defensive military action against retaliatory moves from Pakistan.
The situation was brought under control following a direct military-to-military conversation between Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) and his Indian counterpart, resulting in a mutual agreement to cease further military activity.
