Gaza: Hamas has agreed to a new ceasefire proposal presented by international mediators, including US President Donald Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff.

The proposal involves a 70-day truce and the release of 10 Israeli hostages in two batches, AFP reported citing a Hamas source.

The new offer comes as Israel intensifies its offensive in Gaza. Talks had stalled since the collapse of a two-month truce in mid-March.

A second Palestinian source close to the talks said the deal includes a partial Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the release of several Palestinian prisoners. The US, Egypt and Qatar have all played roles in brokering the terms.

According to the outline, five Israeli hostages will be released in the first week of the truce, with five more released by the end of the 70-day period. During this time, negotiations for a permanent ceasefire will also begin, reportedly with US guarantees.

Witkoff had previously helped negotiate the last truce deal between Israel and Hamas. The recent agreement arrives amid humanitarian concerns in Gaza, following Israel's March blockade and subsequent easing to allow limited aid.

Israel had recalled its senior hostage negotiators from Doha last week but maintained a lower-level presence.
