California: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Passia, a terrorist involved in attacks across Punjab, India. The arrest was announced by FBI Director Kash Patel, who confirmed that Singh, connected to two international terror groups, was apprehended in Sacramento, California, on April 17, 2025.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Patel stated, "Captured: Harpreet Singh, part of an alleged foreign terrorist gang here illegally in the United States, who we believe was involved in planning multiple attacks on police stations both in India and the United States." He commended the joint efforts of FBI Sacramento and Indian authorities, affirming that "justice will be done."

Singh, allegedly a key operative of Pakistan's ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), is closely associated with Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu, alias Rinda. FBI officials disclosed that Singh entered the US illegally and relied on burner phones to avoid detection.

Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, praised the arrest, describing it as a "major milestone" in the ongoing crackdown on ISI-sponsored terror networks. Yadav noted that from 2023 to 2025, Singh orchestrated targeted killings, grenade attacks on police establishments, and extortion operations across Punjab and other Indian states.

The arrest was conducted by the FBI and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), a branch of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), following extensive intelligence-sharing between the United States and India.

Singh’s capture marks a significant development in international counterterrorism efforts and highlights the strengthened cooperation between the two nations in dealing with transnational terror threats.
