A Virginia liquor store employee walked into chaos: shattered whisky bottles, a broken ceiling tile, and one very drunk raccoon passed out spread-eagled in the bathroom after an accidental “all-you-can-drink” rampage.

A liquor store employee in Virginia walked in on an unexpected crime scene: shattered whisky bottles on the floor, a bathroom door slightly ajar, and—inside—one very drunk, very relaxed raccoon passed out as if it had just survived finals week. Watch the viral video below:
Apparently, the furry bandit crashed through a ceiling tile, raided the store like it had a VIP pass, and helped itself to whatever whisky hit the floor.
“He went on a full-blown rampage, drinking everything,” said Samantha Martin, the animal control officer who found the raccoon sprawled out in maximum spread-eagle mode.
The Hanover County animal shelter confirmed the raccoon was, in fact, hammered. After a solid nap and zero injuries—minus what they described as ‘a hangover and poor life choices’—the intruder sobered up and was safely released back into the wild.
Officials added they hope he learned that “breaking is not the answer,” though the raccoon has yet to issue a statement.
This isn’t as unusual as it sounds. Raccoons, increasingly comfortable living among humans (and our trash), are evolving shorter snouts, smaller teeth, and floppier ears—early signs of domestication. Basically, they're turning into tiny, mischievous roommates who don’t pay rent.
Scientists say alcohol is surprisingly common in nature—and plenty of animals indulge. A feral pig in Australia once stole three six-packs, downed all 18 beers, and then picked a fight with a cow. In Turkey, a brown bear cub got so buzzed off “mad honey” that it had to be rescued like a woodland party casualty.
Compared to them, Virginia's raccoon may simply have been having one of those days:
Crash through ceiling.
Drink whisky.
Pass out in bathroom.
Wake up hungover.
Re-evaluate life choices.
Nature is healing.
