Trump attributes Iran’s economic strain to a strict blockade, costing them $500 million daily, and criticizes mainstream media for misrepresenting the tactical reality.

Washington: US President Donald Trump asserted late Monday night that the United States maintains a dominant position in its ongoing military conflict with Iran, claiming that American operations have crippled Tehran’s strategic capabilities even as a new round of high-stakes diplomacy is slated to begin.
The president described the U.S. as "winning" the confrontation, stating that Iran’s military infrastructure has been drastically diminished. During his remarks, he also launched a pointed critique against various media outlets, accusing them of misrepresenting the reality of the war.
In a statement posted to Truth Social, Trump wrote, "I'm winning a War, BY A LOT, things are going very well, our Military has been amazing and, if you read the Fake News, like The Failing New York Times, the absolutely horrendous and disgusting Wall Street Journal, or the now almost defunct, fortunately, Washington Post, you would actually think we are losing the War."
Claims of Military Superiority
The president argued that the Iranian leadership is disoriented by Western media reports that contradict their tactical reality. According to Trump, the Iranian Navy has been "completely wiped out," while their Air Force has been forced into hiding. He further claimed that Tehran currently lacks functional anti-missile or anti-aircraft defences.
"Their former leaders are mostly gone (This has been, in addition to everything else, Regime Change!), and perhaps, most important of all, THE BLOCKADE, which we will not take off until there is a 'DEAL,' is absolutely destroying Iran," Trump wrote.
The president estimated the economic toll on Tehran at $500 million per day, a figure he described as "unsustainable" even in the short term. He concluded his post by comparing his media critics to his political opponents, stating, "The Anti-America Fake News Media is rooting for Iran to win, but it's not going to happen, because I'm in charge!"
Final Diplomatic Efforts
These assertions come at a pivotal moment as a senior American delegation travels to Pakistan to resume negotiations. The team, which includes Vice President JD Vance, Jared Kushner, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, is attempting to break the deadlock following a 21-hour marathon session earlier this month that yielded no formal agreement.
The upcoming summit in Islamabad is widely viewed as the final diplomatic opportunity to prevent a transition into full-scale infrastructure warfare. A standing ceasefire is scheduled to expire on Wednesday, and the White House has warned of a significant escalation should the talks fail.
While Washington maintains that it has presented a "fair and reasonable" proposal, Iranian leaders have consistently refused to negotiate while under the pressure of the naval blockade. Analysts suggest that the previous round of exhaustive discussions may have merely been a precursor to a much more severe military confrontation if an agreement remains elusive.
