Utah: The FBI has released a photo of a "person of interest" related to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot at an event at Utah Valley University. Authorities have launched an intense manhunt to apprehend the suspect, described as a college-aged individual dressed in black.

According to law enforcement officials, the suspect arrived on campus the day of the shooting, ascended to the roof of a nearby building, and fired a high-powered bolt-action rifle down at Kirk during the event. After the attack, the assailant fled by jumping off the building and disappearing into a nearby neighbourhood. Police and FBI agents are combing through the surrounding areas, reviewing doorbell camera footage, and canvassing witnesses.

The FBI has recovered the suspected weapon from a wooded area and collected additional evidence, including footwear impressions, palm prints, and forearm imprints, to aid the investigation. Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason emphasised that this was a targeted attack and assured the public that every available resource is being used to catch the perpetrator.

Two individuals previously detained as persons of interest have been released, with no current ties to the shooting. The FBI is urging anyone with information, photos, or videos to assist in identifying and locating the suspect.
