Shkin, Paktika Province: The Afghan Defence Forces today, at 11:45 am, targeted and destroyed a defensive tank belonging to Pakistani militias in the Angor Post area of Shkin District, Paktika Province. The tank had reportedly been firing indiscriminate projectiles toward Afghan territory.

The operation comes amid heightened tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, with both sides accusing each other of recent airstrikes and cross-border attacks. The Ministry of National Defence of Afghanistan described the action as a necessary response to Pakistani provocations.

“The Afghan Defence Forces carried out a precise strike on the enemy tank at Angor Post, which was actively targeting Afghan villages,” a statement from the ministry read. “This action reflects our commitment to defending Afghan territory and civilians from attacks by armed militias across the border.”

The move follows a series of retaliatory operations in the region. Afghan authorities have previously reported airstrikes on key Pakistani military installations, including the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, the 12th Brigade base in Quetta, and the Khoizai camp in the Mohmand Agency, citing them as responses to Pakistani air raids on Kabul, Bagram and other Afghan areas.

“The airstrikes conducted by the Afghan Air Force in neighbouring territory were effective and targeted key military sites. Any further violation of Afghan airspace will be met with a strong response,” the ministry added.
