Jeddah: A road accident in Saudi Arabia has claimed the lives of three members of a family from Palakkad who were on an Umrah pilgrimage. The deceased have been identified as Abiyan (7) and Ahiyan (4), the children of Faisal and his mother-in-law Sabira.

Faisal, his wife Sumaiya, and Sabira's husband sustained injuries in the accident. Although Sumaiya's injuries are not severe, Faisal and his father-in-law sustained head injuries and will be transferred to another hospital soon, according to the Indian consulate in Jeddah.

The family had departed from Doha, Qatar on Thursday, for Saudi Arabia. Faisal relocated to Qatar from Saudi Arabia four years ago.
