Two women were killed and 24 others were injured after a speeding private bus rammed five vehicles and crashed into a courtyard near Kunnamkulam.

Thrissur: Two women were killed after a private limited-stop bus lost control and crashed into multiple vehicles. One of the deceased women has been identified as Riya Fathima, a student travelling in a car. The other women has not been identified. Around 24 people sustained injuries, with approximately 9 reported to be in critical condition. The accident occurred near Parayambadam in Kunnamkulam around 2.30 pm, involving a bus en route from Kozhikode to Thrissur.
The speeding bus lost control and initially struck a car before crashing into four other vehicles, including a van, an autorickshaw and a motorbike. After ramming into five vehicles, the bus broke through the boundary wall of a residential property and came to a halt in the courtyard.
The front portion of the bus was completely wrecked in the crash. Local residents and ambulance personnel acted swiftly to shift the injured to nearby hospitals.
Eyewitnesses stated that excessive speed led to the crash.
The police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
