IndiGo is set to enhance its service offerings by inducting 45 aircraft equipped with its new business-class product, 'IndiGoStretch,' by the end of 2025.  Besides, the airline plans to add its new business class offering on the Delhi-Hyderabad route from April 15, 2025. Currently the airline offers this premium service on Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Bengaluru route.

This strategic move marks a significant shift from the airline's traditional low-cost model to a more hybrid approach, aiming to cater to the growing demand for premium travel options in the Indian aviation market.

Aviation analysts view IndiGo's introduction of a business-class product as a strategic response to evolving market dynamics.

Fleet expansion and International Ambitions

Beyond the introduction of IndiGoStretch, the airline has ambitious plans to expand its fleet and international presence. IndiGo aims to increase its aircraft count from approximately 437 to over 600 by 2030. This expansion includes the addition of Airbus A321XLR and A350 aircraft, facilitating the launch of new international routes and enhancing its competitiveness in the global aviation market.

Market Implications

IndiGo's foray into the business-class segment is poised to intensify competition in India's aviation sector, particularly against carriers like Air India and Vistara, which already offer premium services. By diversifying its product offerings, IndiGo seeks to capture a broader customer base, catering to both budget-conscious travelers and those seeking enhanced comfort and amenities.

As the airline integrates these 45 business-class-equipped aircraft by the end of 2025, it positions itself to play a more prominent role in both domestic and international premium travel markets.
