New Delhi: To safeguard domestic producers against underpriced imports, India has extended anti-dumping duties on decor paper imports originating from China through March 2027, according to an official government notification.

The duty was originally imposed by the Department of Revenue in December 2021 for a five-year tenure, with rates spanning between $110 per tonne and $542 per tonne. The government has now amended the original order to continue levying the import tax on Chinese-origin decor paper up to and including March 26, 2027.

The decision follows an investigation and subsequent recommendation by the Directorate General for Trade Remedies (DGTR), the investigative arm under the Ministry of Commerce. Decor paper—available in plain or printed varieties—is widely utilised in interior design, craft projects, flooring, and surface finishes for furniture.

In separate official notifications, the Department of Revenue announced similar extensions for two other industrial products:

  • Calcined Gypsum Powder: Commonly referred to as Plaster of Paris and heavily utilised across the construction and pharmaceutical sectors, anti-dumping duties on imports from Iran, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been extended through March 16, 2027.

  • Natural Mica-based Pearl Industrial Pigments: Import duties applying to these Chinese-origin pigments have been extended until February 25, 2027.  (PTI)
