Gold markets hold firm

Gold prices saw a steady start today, with the cost of 24-carat gold (99.9% purity) rising by ₹1 to reach ₹16,332 per gram. Investors and consumers tracking the 22-carat segment—popular for jewellery—noted a similar fractional increase, with rates settling at ₹14,971 per gram.

Market analysts suggest that while the daily change is nominal, the stability of the yellow metal remains a focal point for domestic households. Across major metropolises, price variations persist due to local taxes and transportation costs. Chennai is among the top of the price index, with one of the highest rates among tier-one cities.

Silver records slight correction

In contrast to gold’s resilience, the silver market faced a minor cooling period. The industrial metal dropped by ₹0.10 per gram, bringing the current market price to ₹289.90 per gram. On a larger scale, the price for a kilogram of silver now stands at ₹2,89,900.
