The Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation, popularly known as Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation, has increased prices of all major Sudha milk variants and dairy products, with the revised rates coming into effect from May 25. The latest Sudha milk price hike ranges from Rs 2 to Rs 4 per litre, while 500 ml packets have become costlier by Re 1 to Rs 2, triggering concerns among households and small businesses across Bihar and Jharkhand.

Officials said the price revision was necessary due to rising cattle feed costs, higher procurement prices paid to dairy farmers, and increased transportation and packaging expenses. Around 15 to 16 lakh litres of milk are sold daily in Bihar, making the hike significant for consumers and tea stall owners alike.

What are the new Sudha milk prices?

Under the revised rates:

  • Sudha Gold milk will now cost Rs 68 per litre
  • Sudha Shakti milk price has been increased to Rs 60 per litre
  • Sudha Cow Milk will now be sold at Rs 57 per litre

Comfed officials said procurement prices paid to cattle rearers have risen by Rs 2 to Rs 3 per litre in recent months, forcing the cooperative to revise retail prices.

Which other dairy products have become costlier?

Apart from milk, several other Sudha dairy products have also seen a price increase:

  • Mishti Dahi prices increased by Rs 2
  • Plain Lassi prices raised by Rs 2
  • Cheese prices increased by Rs 10
  • Butter prices increased by Rs 15
  • Ghee rates also up by Rs 10
  • Sudha sweets have become costlier by Rs 10 to Rs 20

The latest price revision is expected to directly impact household budgets and food businesses that depend heavily on milk products.

Tea stall owners indicated that tea prices could rise soon because of higher milk and LPG costs. However, some small business owners believe customer demand will remain stable despite the higher prices.
