Amazon is reportedly considering launching a separate app for its payments service, Amazon Pay, in India. The move aims to enhance the platform's popularity and usability in the competitive digital payments market. According to reports, The e-commerce gian is trying to target a market dominated by digital payment services like Google Pay and PhonePe.
Currently, Amazon Pay is integrated into Amazon’s main shopping app in India, where it enables users to send money, pay bills, buy insurance, book travel, invest in mutual funds, and others.
As per the reports, Amazon has been exploring the idea of separating Amazon Pay from its shopping app and is likely to decide the same in the coming months. The company has reportedly sought approval from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) for this change.
