Thrissur: A youth was stabbed to death in Diwanjimoola during a robbery attempt on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Sreerag (26), an Olarikkara native. Meanwhile, his two brothers were hospitalised with injuries.
The incident happened at around 11 p.m while Sreerag, accompanied by his brothers Sreerekh and Sreeraj, along with Ajmal, were leaving the nearby railway station premises after arriving from Ernakulam. When they reached the area near Passport office in Diwanjimoola, they were confronted by a group of assailants who attacked them and snatched their bag. The perpetrators emptied the bag in front of the group but found nothing valuable. When Sreerag and others requested to return the bag, they were brutally attacked, leading to the stabbing incident.
Sreeraj was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. His brothers are in critical condition and have been admitted to the medical college. Meanwhile, Muhammed Aftaf, one of the five attackers, has been brought to the Co-operative hospital with injuries.
