
Pathanamthitta: Following the death of a woman due to brain haemorrhage, her relatives filed a complaint with the police stating Covid vaccine resulted in her death. The deceased was identified as Naranganam native Divya R Nair (37), the wife of Jinu G. Kumar.
The relatives pointed out that Divya fainted and later lost life after she received the Covid vaccine. Earlier, they had also lodged a complaint with the Pathanamthitta District Collector.
Divya received her first dose vaccine on August 3 at a camp held at Kalleli Primary Health Center in Madathumpady. She had a severe headache in the following days, the family said.
When she reached the private hospital in Kozhencherry on August 14, she fell unconscious. The scan revealed a blood clot in her brain. Soon, she was rushed to a private hospital in Kochi and underwent two surgeries but to no avail.
In the meantime, Divya suffered a haemorrhage in another part of her brain. Later, she was shifted to another private medical college in Thiruvalla but died on Monday afternoon. The report from the hospital in Kochi also mentioned she had health issues after the vaccination.
Aranmula police reached the hospital in Thiruvalla and initiated further proceedings. An autopsy will be conducted at Kottayam Medical College on Tuesday. Divya previously worked as a nurse in the Gulf. She has a seven-year-old daughter, Dakshina. Last rites will be held on Wednesday.
