Delhi-based model Diyanshu Joshi tragically drowns in a prohibited, defunct quarry in Perumbavoor during a pre-shoot location recce.

Perumbavoor (Kerala): A young model who arrived for an advertisement shoot has tragically drowned to death in a quarry here. The deceased has been identified as Diyanshu Joshi (26), a native of Ambedkar Nagar, Delhi.
The incident occurred around 2.00 pm at the Pettamala quarry in Mudakkuzha here. The accident happened while members of the crew were scouting the location for the advertisement shoot, and Diyanshu Joshi attempted to swim in the quarry's water.
A crew comprising Malaysians and four Delhi natives had arrived in Perumbavoor for the advertisement shoot of a Delhi-based textile mill. Diyanshu Joshi, the main model of the project, was part of the team that visited the site to inspect the location ahead of the shooting schedule, which was set to commence on Friday.
The accident took place in a waterlogged quarry that has been defunct for over 20 years. It is understood that aerial footage of the quarry seen on social media reels prompted the crew to choose this location. Reports indicate that the team arrived for the shoot without obtaining permission from the local panchayat.
The body was taken out of water by the Perumbavoor Fire and Rescue Services and subsequently shifted to the Perumbavoor Taluk Hospital mortuary. The Kodanad Police arrived at the scene and initiated legal procedures.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred here; young people have lost their lives after falling into the quarry water in the past. The current tragedy took place at a site where public entry had been strictly prohibited following those previous accidents.
