Vattiyoorkavu: In a strange turn of events, an amount of Rs. 10.76 lakh, which was deposited by Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) in a public sector bank, ended up in a different account in Thiruvananthapuram due to an error. However, the person who received the money, a resident of Kattakada, refused to return the money stating that she had already spent it. As a result, the bank lodged a complaint with the police.
The amount belonging to a BEVCO outlet in Mukkola was deposited in a bank in Nettayam. On March 18, the bank realised the mistake and informed the authorities. During the investigation, the recipient of the money informed the police that she had used up all the money that had been deposited in her account. The inquiry is still ongoing.
