Gudalur: A woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Ayyankolly on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Naga Ammal. She was 72 years old.
The woman was killed by the jumbo on an open land near her residence.
Locals rushed to the spot hearing the cries of the lady, but were helpless. They immediately informed the forest officials. The body of the woman is currently kept at the morgue of Pandalur taluk hospital,
Naga Ammal is survived by her children Chandra and Jayalakshmi.
Notably, in the last six months, six individuals have been killed in wild elephant attacks in the Gudalur constituency.
