The disaster, which occurred in the dead of night, has led to a heart-wrenching recount from an elderly couple whose home was destroyed.

The couple described their desperate escape after noticing muddy water flowing through their area at around 11 PM. They fled to a nearby hill, attempting to save a neighbour who, tragically, refused to leave with them. "We begged him to come with us, but he said he would join us by 1 AM. He never came," the elderly man said, his voice choked with emotion. They waited on the hill until morning, only to return and find their entire area washed away.

In another emotional account, a woman sobbed as she recounted a call from a relative who was fleeing the disaster with a toddler. "She called me in the night, saying they were trying to escape with their child. After that, they were unreachable," the woman said. That family remains untraceable.

The landslide, which occurred on Tuesday, has claimed 106 lives. Rescue teams, including the Army, Navy, and NDRF, are working tirelessly to save hundreds feared trapped under the debris.
