The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in three Kerala districts on Friday (August 2), Saturday (August 3), and Sunday (August 4). The districts affected are Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. The forecast predicts isolated heavy rains ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm over a 24-hour period.

The yellow alert may hinder ongoing rescue operations in the landslide-hit Wayanad. Additionally, the yellow alert for neighbouring Kozhikode may affect transportation and essential supply logistics related to relief measures.

Meanwhile, the IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall across Kerala from Friday to Sunday. According to the IMD, a low-pressure trough extends from the Kerala coast to the southern Gujarat coast. A low-pressure area has formed over West Bengal and Jharkhand and is likely to intensify into a deep depression over Jharkhand within the next 24 hours.
