
Thiruvananthapuram: Former Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan has stepped down from the post of Chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission. The resignation letter has been handed over to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The 97-year-old Communist leader had informed the CM and the government of his unwillingness to continue in the post citing health reasons.
One month back he had vacated his official residence and shifted to his son’s house.
VS had been serving as the chairman of the ARC for the past 4 years and 5 months. Around 11 study reports have been submitted and two more under preparation. These will be submitted soon.
The ARC also has submitted many proposals to the government in the past 4 years.
Among them, reports on modifications in Vigilance against corruption, modifications in civil services and recommendations regarding e-governance were widely discussed.
