Kottarakkara: Footage captured by Sandeep on his mobile phone before he killed Dr Vandana Das of Kottarakkara taluk hospital has surfaced. The 13-second video shows a doctor and nurse treating Sandeep, who was brought to the emergency department to nurse a leg wound. The video shows a female nurse treating his wound. The slain doctor Vandana Das is seen standing nearby.
The incident occurred on Wednesday around 5 am when Sandeep was brought to the hospital for treatment by police. While being treated for his leg injury, Sandeep became violent and kicked his relative who was standing near the door. He then grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed policemen and another local who tried to intervene. Meanwhile, hospital staff escaped and entered another room. Vandana could not escape before Sandeep turned towards her. He brutally killed the doctor by stabbing her multiple times. She succumbed to her injuries at KIMS hospital in Thiruvananthapuram where she was treated.

The accused sent the footage to his friend before committing the heinous act. The incident shocked the medical fraternity, and doctors across the state staged protests. The police have arrested Sandeep and are investigating the matter.
