Kochi: Vijesh Pillai, who was in the news in connection with the Kerala diplomatic channel gold smuggling case, is now making headlines once again for his alleged involvement in the Highrich scam.
In the ED (Enforcement Directorate) investigation, it was found that Vijay Pillai was the person who provided OTT platform to the Highrich owners. He was called for interrogation as per the latest findings of the investigation team.
Thrissur-based Highrich online shoppee owners are accused of engaging in financial frauds amounting to a total of Rs 1,157.32 crores through various means. This even includes projection of exaggerated numbers of subscribers in their OTT platform. The Highrich owners KD Prathapan and his wife Sreeni are currently being interrogated at the Kochi ED office.
The ED investigation team had conducted raids at Vijesh Pillai’s office in Kalamassery in the past as part of their investigations in the sensational Kerala diplomatic channel gold smuggling case.
Highrich owners expanded their customer base through various multi level marketing methods. While the projected numbers of subscribers for the Highrich OTT platform stands at 12.39 lakhs, in reality only a mere 10,000 people had watched movies released on this platform in a period of three months.
In the current ED investigation, it has been found that the Highrich owners purchased their OTT platform and the related softwares from Vijesh Pillai. Transactions amounting to Rs 4 crores have been detected between the parties so far.
Vijesh Pillai is the chief executive officer of the company named Infotech Private Limited. It is a startup recognised by both the state and the union government. In the past, precisely in 2021, Vijesh Pillai had developed an OTT platform named ‘Action’. The ED officials are now suspecting that he would have sold the same platform to the Highrich owners of late.
