New Delhi: Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Tuesday (May 26) met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and sought the Centre’s support for key development projects in the state.

The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s office at Seva Teerth, lasted around 20 minutes. Satheesan was accompanied by an official delegation that included the Chief Secretary. This was his first meeting with Modi after assuming office as Chief Minister.

According to information available, the discussions focused on Kerala’s development requirements and projects that need central assistance.

Centre’s support sought for major infrastructure projects

Kerala is seeking Union government backing for several major projects, including railway development works, port initiatives, AIIMS and Metro-related projects.

The meeting was aimed at ensuring central support for the implementation of these proposals and other development initiatives in the state.

After the meeting, Satheesan said on X that he had discussed various matters concerning Kerala with the Prime Minister and requested all possible support from the Centre for the state’s future development.

Meetings with Sitharaman and Amit Shah scheduled

Satheesan is also scheduled to meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman later on Tuesday.

A meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected on Wednesday, after which the Chief Minister is set to return.
