Thiruvananthapuram: The state transport commissioner has issued an order making it mandatory for drivers in educational institutions in Kerala, to wear uniforms.
White shirt and black pants will be the new uniform. They should also carry ID cards of the institution bearing photos. This is applicable to drivers of all vehicles that have education institution permit.
There are 20,000 approved school vehicles. Drivers with 10 years of experience are appointed as their drivers. Any driver who had been punished for accidents are not allowed to drive these vehicles.
Also, those who had been caught for over speeding, reckless driving and mobile phone use amid driving are not permitted to drive educational institution vehicles.
