Cherupuzha: An unknown person who frequents people’s homes in the dead of the night and knocks on their doors has been giving sleepless nights to many. The journey of this stranger which began two weeks ago from Rayaroth in Alakode panchayat has now reached Prapoil in Cherupuzha panchayat.

This miscreant goes to houses at night and knocks on doors. He imprints his crude-oil smeared handprints on doors and walls and then proceeds to create ruckus by breaking open window panes and pulling out light bulbs.

His disturbances were first in the Rayarom- Kothapally section and later after causing disruptions at Kunderi and Peruvatta, he has now reached the Prapoil area.

The other day, he visited many houses in the Eyyankallu area. He runs away if any door is opened answering his knocks. He has done this in the houses of Sati Kanamkaran, P.J Rajan Thachethu and Madhu Kuzhiparambil in the Eyyankallu region.

On Saturday morning, he came to Machiyanikkel Krishnankutty’s house on Prapoyil- Kakkot road near the Juma masjid and forced open the windows of the house. He also removed the exterior bulbs. Other doors that he knocked on that day include the houses of Vahanikkal Muhammed Sharif, Ottaplackal Shabin and R.K Pradeepan.

Since Sharif has CCTV installed, the trouble-maker knocked on the back door of his house. Hence it is suggested that this may be a person who is familiar with the area. He came to the place at around 3 in the morning.

As soon as the locals informed the Cherupuzha police, they reached the spot and scoured the area with the help of other residents. However, they could not find anyone.

A few days ago, when the trouble-maker reached Ambattukuzhi Raju’s residence in Rayarom at around 8:30 PM, Raju and his son chased the man for a long distance but failed to catch him. Various fictitious stories about this stranger are circulating in the area. The police have intensified their investigation in efforts to catch this miscreant who is terrorizing the locals with his tactics.
