Peravoor (Kannur): Two youngsters who went to take bath in Kollamkundu river here drowned near Poovathur bridge in Cheruvanchery. The deceased are identified as Manantheri natives C C Najish (22) and P Manseer (26). The incident took place on Tuesday at 2.30 pm.

Both the young men were taking bath in the river with their friends. The mishap occurred amid this. The locals rescued both and rushed to community health centre in Patyam and then to Koothuparamba taluk hospital. However, they could not be saved.

Najish, son of Nisar and Thasni, was working in a jewellery. Manseer, son of Mahamood and Hajira, was working abroad and came home only a few months ago. The body was shifted to Thalassery general hospital for postmortem.
