Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance officials on Saturday recorded the statements of Thiruvananthapuram municipal corporation mayor Arya Rajendran and CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan in connection with the letter row.
The officials took the statement of Nagappan while he was in his office. On the other hand, Arya’s statement was taken at her residence.

Reports said Nagappan told officials that he had no clue about the letter and he had not seen it.
It comes a day after the vigilance department ordered an investigation into the matter. The investigation has been assigned to the Special Investigation Unit I. They are looking into corruption allegations over the purported letter.
Meanwhile, the matter is also probed by Crime Branch and the officials concerned have already taken the statement of Arya. Crime Branch maintained that they have not taken Nappan’s statement, but latter denied it and claimed that he has given the statement.
