Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary MV Govindan on Saturday said that the investigation into the letter controversy in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation is progressing in the right direction. 

Govindan said that a probe is ongoing into the incident. He also questioned whether someone could finish the probe within five days.

Thiruvananthapuram mayor Arya Rajendran landed in a controversy after a letter allegedly written to the CPM district secretary seeking a priority list of party cadres to be appointed to temporary posts in the Corporation surfaced.

Talking about the tussle between the governor and the government, the CPM secretary pointed out the government will decide on bringing an ordinance to remove Governor from the post of chancellor.

"The government prepared an ordinance with good intentions. I believe a bill will be introduced when the state assembly convene in December," he added. 

Meanwhile, Kerala Government on Saturday sent the ordinance regarding the removal of the governor as chancellor to Raj Bhavan for the Governor's approval. However, it remains unclear whether Governor will be willing to curtail his powers and relinquish his duties as chancellor of state universities.
