Kozhikode: The postmortem report of Viswanathan has confirmed that hanging was the cause of his death. The report also stated that there were no signs of injury on his body.
The tribal man was found hanging near the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The Wayanad native, who had come to the hospital for his wife’s delivery, went missing on February 8. He was found hanging on a tree near the hospital two days later.

Viswanathan’s family has claimed that he went missing after security officials alleged him of stealing and questioned him. According to the family, a purse and a mobile phone of a person went missing while sitting in the area allotted for bystanders. Security staff attacked Viswanathan accusing him of stealing this, claimed the family. They also alleged that he killed himself because of the humiliation caused by this.
The family also said that Viswanathan had been waiting for a child for the past eight years and had no other reasons to suicide. There is also an allegation that the postmortem procedures were completed without informing the family.
However, his brother Raghavan had alleged that it was a murder and Viswanathan would never kill himself. However, police ruled out this possibility.
Police also said that they did not receive any evidence of Viswanathan being attacked and that no such footage was found during the CCTV examination.
