Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister and actor KB Ganesh Kumar has addressed the Hema Committee report on issues within the Malayalam film industry. Ganesh Kumar stated that the government is committed to taking necessary action based on the report’s findings.

He also mentioned that he has not received any direct complaints regarding the issues highlighted in the report. He emphasised that if complaints are brought to him, they will be addressed appropriately. “In the report, the Culture Minister has provided a detailed response, and I am confident that appropriate action will be taken. The Transport Minister is not the one to take decisions on this matter. I cannot validate the complaints; these are personal issues. If complaints were brought to me directly, I would have addressed them. I have not yet seen the report, but the government will take necessary action.”

“It is true that there are many inconveniences, such as the lack of adequate toilet facilities for women, which should have been addressed earlier. Only particular parts of the report should not be highlighted. What needs to be done will be addressed properly. No one has complained to me personally, but action will be taken if complaints are made. We cannot comment on matters in the report that have not yet been brought out," he added.

The Hema Committee report released on Monday sheds light on the widespread and persistent sexual harassment faced by women in the Malayalam cinema industry, with many alleging they were subjected to unwanted advances even before commencing work.

The report highlighted the widespread nature of the issue, sparking concerns about the safety and well-being of women in the industry.
