Guruvayur: CPM State Secretary M V Govindan has claimed that the Congress party was largely responsible for Suresh Gopi's victory in Thrissur. Speaking at the P. Krishnapilla memorial gathering in Guruvayur, he mentioned that CPM votes contributed to Suresh Gopi’s win.
"In the last election, CPM aimed to defeat its main rival, the BJP, with 80 percent of voters casting their ballots against the BJP. Despite this, the LDF received only 33 percent of the votes. Secularists and minorities believed that supporting Congress was a more effective strategy to counter the BJP’s influence in the current political climate," he said.
