A 40-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries after stones were hurled at the Yesvantpur Weekly Express between Kannur South and Thalassery in Kerala late Monday night. Railway police suspect local miscreants were behind the attack.

Kannur: A passenger sustained minor injuries when stones were hurled at the Yesvantpur Weekly Express between Kannur South and Thalassery stations late Monday night, railway police said.
The incident occurred around 10 pm after the train departed from Kannur South station. One of the stones entered the S7 sleeper coach through an open window, striking the hand of 40-year-old Arun and damaging his mobile phone, officials said.
Police said a case would be registered once the injured passenger’s statement is recorded.
Preliminary information suggests that the attack may have been carried out by local miscreants, possibly under the influence of alcohol, who are known to loiter near the tracks at night, the police added.
