Papadam (papad), pazham (banana) and payasam (sweet pudding) are now the centre of discussion of certain Facebook users since Monday evening.

An Alappuzha wedding witnessed a mass fight between groups after the row over not serving papadam escalated on Sunday afternoon. The video of the ruckus went viral triggering Facebook users to wonder why papadam is so essential in a sadya.

However, payasam and pazham are also part of the discussions thanks to the delicacies of southern Kerala. Here, people mix pazham with payasam at marriage feasts. However, pazham is not common in northern Kerala. Papadam is optional everywhere.

The debate soon escalated to an online 'fight' as many found it disgusting to mix these items. The Alappuzha fight was taken over by Facebook users, those who support the 'traditional' way of having payasam on the banana leaves and the 'modern' people who wish to have it in glass.
