Palakkad: Legendary Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag paid a visit to Palakkad for the first time on Monday. Sehwag, who had previously been to Kerala for cricket matches in 2005 and 2006, arrived in the town at 11:30 AM after attending a cultural festival in Coimbatore.

Sehwag's visit to Palakkad was not related to cricket, but rather to enjoy the region's culture and beauty. "The sights here are absolutely stunning. This is a wonderful experience," Sehwag told Matrubhumi News. The former cricket star, renowned for his devastating batting against bowlers, arrived in Palakkad Kavilpadu Sree Pulikkal Vishwanagayakshi Temple for a religious visit, taking part in a pradakshina (temple procession).

During his visit, Sehwag kept a low profile, politely interacting with fans and posing for photographs, but he declined to discuss cricket or the Indian team's loss in Melbourne. He greeted everyone with folded hands.

In a special ceremony held at the temple, prayers were offered in Sehwag’s honour, and he received prasadam from the temple priests. The temple also conducted a special pooja for him.

Later in the day, Sehwag enjoyed a traditional Kerala Sadhya (feast), complete with the famous Paladapayasam dessert. At 4 PM, Sehwag left for Coimbatore, completing his brief visit to the region.

Sehwag's visit was warmly received by the locals, who were delighted to meet the cricketing legend outside of the usual sports setting. His charm and down-to-earth nature left a lasting impression on those he met.
