Thiruvananthapuram: Academic qualifications alone will no longer be sufficient for job seekers at Thiruvananthapuram Technopark, as certain companies have adopted a strict policy against hiring those who use drugs.
The decision has been taken by the Group of Technology Companies (G-Tech), an organisation representing over 250 IT firms in Kerala. G-Tech has resolved not to consider drug users for employment.
"We have moved beyond the stage of awareness campaigns; it is now time for action," said G-Tech secretary Sreekumar V.
Applicants seeking jobs at these companies will be required to undergo a medical examination and submit a mandatory medical certificate.
