Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) has announced that its Onam special offer, 20 kg of rice at ₹25 per kg per ration card per month, will now be made a permanent scheme. Additionally, women consumers will receive an extra 10 per cent discount on non-subsidised products, over and above the existing discounts at Supplyco outlets.

The new consumer-friendly measures were unveiled as part of Supplyco’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Currently, each ration cardholder can purchase one litre of edible oil at a subsidised rate of ₹319 per litre from Supplyco outlets. This quota will now be doubled to two litres per card per month. Non-subsidised Sabari brand coconut oil will be sold at ₹359 per litre, while Kera coconut oil will be priced at ₹429 per litre, according to a press note issued by the Office of the Minister for Civil Supplies.

Customers purchasing non-subsidised goods worth ₹1,000 or more will be eligible to buy one kilogram of sugar at ₹5. Those who spend over ₹500 will receive 250 grams of Sabari Gold Tea at a 25 per cent discount, priced at ₹61.50 instead of ₹105.

To encourage digital payments, customers making UPI transactions for purchases above ₹500 will receive an additional ₹5 discount.

Sabari Appam Powder and Puttu Powder, which are normally priced at ₹88 per kg, have been made available at a 50 per cent discount, at ₹44 per kg, since November 1.

To reduce overcrowding at its outlets, Supplyco has also introduced a time-based incentive. Customers shopping before 5 pm will receive an extra 5 per cent discount on select branded FMCG products.

Mobile Supplyco markets, launched on November 1, will make both subsidised goods and branded essential commodities available in every constituency.

As in previous years, special Christmas fairs will be organised at six district centres, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Thrissur. Selected Supplyco supermarkets in taluk centres will also function as Christmas fair outlets. The fairs will run from December 21, 2025, to 1 January 1, 2026.

Supplyco aims to achieve sales worth ₹250 crore during the Christmas season, offering over 250 products at special discounts and promotional prices. Christmas cakes and other festive products will also be widely available across all Supplyco outlets.
