Those seeking marks two years after the exam must pay ₹200. Despite the confusion this policy causes during Plus One admissions, the government has chosen to continue it.

The government will continue to withhold marks while announcing the results of the SSLC examination this year as well. The notification for the exam to be held in March 2026 has confirmed that students will not be informed of their actual marks.
Despite criticism and complaints from students and parents in previous years, the policy remains unchanged. The SSLC exams are scheduled from March 5 to 30, 2026, and only grades will be published along with the results. Admission to higher secondary and other courses will be based solely on these grades.
Although the difficulties caused by several students ending up with the same grade were widely discussed during past years, the Education Department has not agreed to change its decision. The notification also states that under no circumstances will the score (mark) details be provided to candidates within three months of the result announcement.
But, if a student needs the score for higher studies, they may apply to the Examination Secretary along with a ₹100 demand draft, in which case the marks will be confidentially communicated to the head of the institution concerned. After three months from the result declaration, students can personally obtain their marks by paying ₹500.

It was only after students revealed their marks two years post-results—by paying the required fee—that the irregularities in Plus One admissions came to light. The ‘Mathrubhumi’ report had earlier exposed how unfair it was to rank students with identical grades based on their date of birth and the first letter of their name.
