Palakkad Collector issues stop memo for Paramekkavu fireworks as Government announces six months of free treatment for blast victims.

Palakkad/Thrissur: The Palakkad District Collector has officially issued a stop memo regarding the firework manufacturing activities of the Paramekkavu Devaswom. As part of safety and restoration measures, the authorities have ordered that the private fields and lands that were levelled or filled for storage purposes must be restored to their original state.
Furthermore, a comprehensive report is being prepared under the Collector's supervision to assess the structural damage to nearby buildings caused by the explosion. Financial assistance will be provided for the restoration of these properties based on the findings of this report.
Devaswoms call for probe; Government outlines aid
The Paramekkavu and Thiruvambady Devaswoms have jointly called for a comprehensive investigation into the explosion. While expressing their grief, the temple authorities stated that they would abide by any guidelines or suggestions put forward by the Government regarding the conduct of the upcoming Pooram festival.
Following a Cabinet meeting, the Government announced a major healthcare package for the survivors.
- Free treatment: All those injured in the blast will receive six months of free medical treatment.
- Extended care: If further treatment is required after this period, the patient may choose their preferred medical facility for continued care, based on the recommendations of a designated Medical Board.
Protests disrupt press briefing
Meanwhile, a press conference convened by the Ministers following the Cabinet meeting was interrupted by a public protest. A woman confronted the officials, alleging that a complaint she had previously filed with the District Collector’s office had been ignored. The ensuing commotion led to a delay in the official briefing.
