Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has announced a financial assistance of ₹14 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent explosion at a firework manufacturing unit at Mundathikode in Thrissur. Chief Minister V D Satheesan shared the decision during a press briefing following a Cabinet meeting, where several other key administrative choices were also finalised.

Addressing long-standing grievances in the agricultural sector, the Chief Minister confirmed that issues surrounding paddy procurement in the state have been resolved, promising that farmers will receive their pending dues at the earliest.

In addition, the Cabinet decided to initiate legal procedures to replace chairmen and vice-chairmen who were appointed to various state boards and corporations during the previous government's tenure and continue to hold office. New appointments will be made to these vacancies subsequently.

In other major decisions, the government will formally request the Central Government for a CBI probe into the death of ADM Naveen Babu. The Revenue Department has also been directed to provide a government job to Naveen Babu’s daughter as a special case under compassionate employment. Furthermore, the annual marine trawling ban in the state has been scheduled for 52 days, running from June 10 to July 31.
