Kochi: Maharaja's College, which was closed indefinitely due to conflict between student organizations, reopened on Wednesday. The regular classes resumed under heavy police cover to avert the chance of unfortunate incidents.

The college and the hostel were closed indefinitely last week following a clash among KSU, Fraternity Movement activists, and SFI activists, in which one student was stabbed.

The atmosphere in the college has been tense for some time now. The situation escalated as the SFI unit secretary Abdul Nasser was hacked in the wee hours of last Thursday. Even after reaching the hospital with the injured, both sides clashed. A case has been registered against more than 30 students for their involvement in the same.

SFI alleges that the unholy alliance between KSU and the Fraternity Movement is disrupting the peaceful atmosphere of the campus. The outfit has called for an indefinite agitation in the campus against the same.
