New Delhi: The Supreme Court has postponed hearing of a petition relating to the reappointment of Kannur University Vice-Chancellor Dr Gopinath Ravindran.
The bench of Justice V Ramasubramanian and Justice Pankaj Mithal decided to postpone the hearing after the former noted that he only has 11 working days to retire. Justice V Ramasubramanian will retire on June 29, 2023.
Senior Advocate KK Venugopal, appearing for the state government, pointed out this to Justice V Ramasubramanian.
Earlier, Kannur University senate member Dr Premachandran Keezhoth and academic council member Shino P Jose approached the Supreme Court questioning the reappointment of Gopinath Ravindran as Vice-Chancellor. Senior advocate Dama Seshadri Naidu and lawyers MP Vinod and Athul Sankar Vinod appeared before the supreme court for the petitioners. The counsel argued that the university violated the norms in reappointing the VC.
