New Delhi: The Supreme Court here on Monday expressed its dissatisfaction with the tardy pace of investigation in the dredger scam case against former Kerala DGP Jacob Thomas, while considering the State government’s plea seeking more time to complete the probe into it. The State informed the Supreme Court again that a significant document in the case could not be recovered so far.

The apex court made the observation after checking the status quo report on the investigation against Jacob Thomas which was handed over by the State in a sealed cover. The court has also pointed out that it has already sanctioned time to the government several times earlier following its requests. However, the court has granted the request of the State seeking more time to recover the missing document.

Kerala had earlier informed the apex court that a document pertaining to the dredger import is suspected to be forged, and to verify the same, the document has to be recovered. The counsels appearing for the State had also communicated that the same could not be recovered even in the probe conducted by the Finance Department.

Senior lawyer Harin P Raval, Standing Counsel Harshad V Hameed and Advocate Dileep Poolakkottu appeared before the court for the State, while Advocate A Karthik appeared for Jacob Thomas, and Advocate Kaleeswaram Raj for complainant Sathyan Nadavoor.

The Supreme Court will consider the case again on April 19.
