Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil downplays internal dissent, saying even party voices calling for resignation won’t affect his decision.

Adoor: Rahul Mamkootathil, facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct, has stated that he will not resign from the MLA position. He said that resigning from the MLA post is not even under consideration. His response comes in the context of ongoing protests by both the LDF and BJP demanding resignation. Rahul spoke to the media from his residence in Adoor.
When asked whether a section within his own party also believes he should resign as MLA, Rahul responded by saying that resignation is not a matter under consideration. He was not willing to make any further comments.
It was only the previous day that he resigned from the post of Youth Congress state president. Rahul had claimed that the resignation was on moral grounds in the wake of rising allegations. He had explained that, at a time when party workers are taking a stand against the government, a crisis should not be created for them to justify such matters. That is why he stepped down as president. He also reiterated that he was not resigning because he had done something wrong.
