Kochi: Activist Rehana Fathima moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case registered against her for using children to paint on her semi-naked body and circulating the video on social media. In the plea she has cited that the case registered against her under POCSO Act is not valid.
Rehana had posted the video on YouTube under the title ‘Body and Politics’. Her son and daughter are seen painting on her semi-nude body. She had noted along with the video that teachings on women’s body and sexuality has to begin at home.
Following this, police registered a case of non-bailable offence against her under IT Act and Juvenile Justice Act and conducted raid at her house in Panampilly Nagar here on Thursday. Paints, brushes and laptop were taken in custody in the raid during which Rehana was not at home.
Police then said that Rehana was in Kozhikode and was asked to appear at the station upon returning.
Rehana’s husband had said that she will appear at the station and won’t seek anticipatory bail as she did nothing wrong.
However, on Friday she moved HC through her lawyer.
