K. C. Venugopal said the UDF’s victory reflects widespread support from people across all sections of Kerala society.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has hailed the United Democratic Front’s sweeping victory in Kerala’s Assembly elections, describing it as a transformative moment in the state’s political history.
Taking to X, Venugopal celebrated what he called a decisive and unprecedented mandate for the alliance, which secured 102 seats in the 140-member Assembly. He wrote:
“KERALAM HAS WON! IT IS A UDF TSUNAMI!
We thank the 3 crore people of Keralam for a historic, record breaking mandate in the UDF’s favour, giving us 102 seats!
Red fortresses have been demolished, traditional arithmetic has been rejected, and a UDF wave has swept through Keralam!
This is a victory of the common people of Keralam - the youth, women, farmers, and common people across divisions of class, community and region have placed their faith in the UDF!
This is the victory of a united fight, under the guidance of INC President Sh. Mallikarjun @kharge ji and the dynamic leadership of LOP Sh. @RahulGandhi ji!
We will bring back a pro-people, welfare-oriented government that listens to the people, where faith is protected, and where every Malayali is treated with the respect and fairness they deserve.
This is a massive responsibility that the people have placed on us, and we will leave no stone unturned to go beyond their expectations to transform Keralam!
Jai UDF! Jai Keralam! Jai Hind!”
The results mark a significant boost for the Congress-led alliance, with the Indian National Congress winning 63 seats. Its key ally, the Indian Union Muslim League, secured 22 constituencies, contributing substantially to the coalition’s commanding majority.
Venugopal underscored the broader political implications of the outcome, stating that the verdict represents a departure from established electoral patterns in Kerala. He remarked that “Red fortresses have been demolished, traditional arithmetic has been rejected, and a UDF wave has swept through Keralam!”, signalling what he characterised as a shift in voter sentiment across regions and communities.
The victory is being framed by Congress leaders as an endorsement of the alliance’s leadership under Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, as well as its promise of a welfare-focused and inclusive administration.
With a decisive mandate now secured, the UDF will form the next government in Kerala, carrying what Venugopal described as a “massive responsibility” to meet public expectations and deliver on its commitments. (ANI)
