Educational institutions in Kozhikode and Wayanad will remain closed on Wednesday following a Red Alert for heavy rain and strong winds.

Kozhikode: In light of the red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and widespread waterlogging caused by torrential rain, a holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Kozhikode district on Wednesday (July 8). This follows a similar holiday announcement made earlier for educational institutions in neighbouring Wayanad district.
The Kozhikode District Collector announced via Facebook that the closure will apply to all educational centres, including Anganwadis, tuition centres, madrassas and professional colleges.
However, residential educational institutions will remain open. The Collector also clarified that pre-scheduled university and Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) examinations will proceed without any change.
The safety measure has been implemented to avoid potential accidents and disasters, with weather experts forecasting continued high-velocity winds and heavy downpours across Kozhikode over the coming days.
